Black Friday Week 🎉
Future Twitchers and budding YouTubers know they need a quality microphone to get started. Or maybe you’re working from home and you’re tired of the echo and tinny sound of your laptop’s built-in microphone. The TONOR TC-777 is a great option if you’re looking for a quality microphone that doesn’t break the bank.
Features
-
Included accessories: The TONOR TC-777 microphone came well equipped with accessories that did not come with my Blue Snowball microphone: a shock mount and a pop filter. Both the TONOR TC-777 and the Blue Snowball microphone came equipped with a tripod that works for basic recording, but I found myself constantly propping up the microphone with a stack of boxes. A microphone arm is a better option, which you can also obtain from TONOR.
-
Plug and play: The microphone required no special configuration when plugging into my Mac and Linux machines, and Windows 10 was able to automatically configure itself for the TONOR TC-777 as well. The microphone has an integrated 1.5 meter USB cable that can’t be disconnected from the microphone (the Blue Snowball has a detachable USB cable).
Performance
The sound quality of the TONOR TC-777 with the microphone is particularly good and is fine for YouTube content creation or even Twitch streamers. Please refer to the attached recording sample for a comparison between the Blue Snowball and the TONOR TC-777.
Technically Well · Tonor TC-777 and Blue Snowball Ice comparison
The only potential issue I see is that the TONOR TC-777 is more omnidirectional, meaning that it could pick up sounds from behind or beside the microphone, where the Snowball is only open to one direction. So, the TONOR TC-777 would be ideal for capturing a group conversation or when interviewing another individual, for example. However, for individual recording, the TONOR TC-777 will still be fine, you’ll just want to find a quiet environment to record in.
Value
Compared to the Blue Snowball microphone, the TONOR TC-777 costs less and still provides great sound recording capabilities. The added accessories such as the shock mount and pop filter provide further value
Our Verdict
Quality sound and the included shock mount and pop filter make the TONOR TC-777 microphone a great value whether you're looking to start Twitch or YouTube channel.
