Design

The soundcore Boom 2 Plus is equipped with both a strap and a handle for easy portability, and it features IPX7 waterproofing for durability in various environments such as the beach or by the pool. I’m a sucker for LED lights, so I love these LED lights on either side of the speaker. The lights dance along to the music and help create a party atmosphere. There are different LED lightging effects available in the soundcore app. It measures 17.4 x 9.0 x 5.9 inches and weighs about 8.4 pounds.

Performance

The soundcore Boom 2 Plus boasts a powerful output of 100W in Normal Mode and 140W in Superbass Mode, which is enhanced by an advanced driver combination of 2 woofers and 2 tweeters. The speaker sound great, especially if you like bass. Mids and highs come through nice and clear while Superbass Mode enhances the lows nicely without making the music sound muddy.

You can also tweak the speaker to your heart’s content using the soundcore app. It allows you to pick from preset equalizers as well as create your own.

Features

The soundcore Boom 2 Plus speaker is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 for clear connections and battery efficiency. There is also an aux-in port if you would like to have a wired connection to your music instead. If you have multiple soundcore speakers that supports their new “PartyCast 2.0” feature, you can connect multiple speakers together to play simultaneously.

Battery Life

The Boom 2 Plus lasts up to 20 hours on a single charge, and it can fast charge if you have a USB-C Power Delivery charger that can output at least 30 watts (not included).

soundcore Boom 2 Plus vs Boom 2

The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus and Boom 2 exhibit several key differences that cater to various user preferences and needs. Firstly, in terms of power output, the Boom 2 Plus delivers significantly higher power at 100W in Normal Mode and 140W in Superbass Mode, compared to the Boom 2’s 60W and 80W respectively. This higher power is complemented by a more advanced driver combination in the Boom 2 Plus, featuring 2 woofers and 2 tweeters, whereas the Boom 2 includes 1 subwoofer and 2 tweeters. This setup in the Boom 2 Plus likely contributes to its broader frequency range of 40Hz-40kHz, compared to the Boom 2’s range of 50Hz-20kHz.

The physical design and portability features also differ between the two models. The Boom 2 Plus includes a strap and a handle for easier transport, while the Boom 2 only has a handle. Additionally, the Boom 2 Plus is notably larger and heavier, measuring 17.4 x 8.98 x 5.94 inches and weighing 8.4 pounds, compared to the more compact and lighter Boom 2 at 11.65 x 7.28 x 3.98 inches and 3.75 pounds. Another significant difference is the fast charging capability; the Boom 2 Plus supports USB-C PD 30W fast charging, which is not available in the Boom 2.
