Eufy BodySense Smart Scale
Eufy BodySense Smart Scale

If you need a little extra help tracking your progress towards your fitness goals, Anker’s sister brand “Eufy” has just released a smart scale that is full of features and won’t break the bank.

PROs

  • Tracks more than just weight: The Eufy Smart Scale tracks several different measurements: weight, body fat, BMI, hydration level, muscle mass, bone mass, BMR and visceral fat and more. Many of these figures will be estimates and not exact measurements, due to the limitations of the simple electrical body fat test that all scales use, but they still provide a great way to track your progress and see the general direction you’re headed. I’m happy to see a scale that takes the emphasis off weight alone, since that is not always a good indication of how your fat loss progress is going. UPDATE: Body fat readings may be off; see “con” below.
  • Easy Bluetooth connectivity: I was surprised how easy this scale was to setup. I simply downloaded the “EufyLife” app to my iPhone and opened it up. I did need to setup an account and enter some details about myself, such as date of birth and height. After that, the app walked me through the pairing process. It automatically detected the scale set it up; I didn’t even need to go into my Bluetooth settings and pair it manually.
  • Appearance: The sleek design of the scale looks great in my bathroom, so I don’t mind leaving it sit out. There are also anti-slip pads on the scale which is ideal for when you’re just getting out of the shower, although the glass surface can get a little slippery when your feet are wet.
  • Historic data: The app also stores historic data with easy to read graphs, so you can track changes to your body over time.

CONs

  • Accuracy: I found the weight measurements of the Eufy scale to be within 1 pound of my 10-year old scale it is replacing, so the weight readings seem to be OK. But the body fat percentage seems to be reading too high. I need to do some more testing, then I will update this review.
  • No data export: Unfortunately, you are not able to export your data from the app at this time. So no Apple Health nor Google Fit support. I hear that this is coming in a future update, but no time estimate was available.

Overall, the Eufy Smart Scale works greats and provides a plethora of data about your body. I’m looking forward to Apple Health support, but at this price point (which is much less than, say, FitBit’s Aria scale) I’m very happy with this purchase.

Specifications:

  • Measurement range: 11 lbs - 397 lbs
  • Working environment: 10 - 40 degrees Celsius
  • Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1 in
  • Net Weight: 3.67 lb

Our Verdict

7.9
Very Good

Priced much less than other well known smart scales, the Eufy tracks several different data points about your body and stores them conveniently in the EufyLife app. Unfortunately, the body fat percentage appears to be significantly off. It is also missing the ability to export your data to other apps.
