Performance

Normally, it is not possible charge a power bank and use the power bank to charge your phone at the same time. This typically puts a lot of strain on the battery cells and shortens the life of the power bank. The Anker PowerCore Fusion has special circuitry to safely handle both tasks by first charging the devices connected to the Fusion, then charging the Fusion itself.

The Anker PowerCore Fusion can charge both smartphones and tablets at full speed. When plugged into an AC outlet, the Fusion can output 2.1 amps total. If you plug in two items, that 2.1 amps is split between the two ports, so each would get about 1 amps max.

When not plugged into a wall outlet, the built-in 5000mAh power bank can output 3 amps total, so you could charge a smartphone (1 amp) and tablet (2 amps) at the same time at full speed.

Capacity

The 5000mAh capacity can recharge most smartphones up to 1.5 times. It will only partially charge an iPad (about 40%).

Design

The PowerCore Fusion features a rectangle design with a black, matte finish. If you’re OCD about fingerprints, you’ll be happy to know that fingerprints are not an issue with the Fusion’s exterior.

There are two full-sized USB output ports that you can connect your existing charging cables to to power up your devices. There is also a Micro USB input port so you can charge the Fusion like a traditional power bank.

The AC power prongs are foldable which makes this charger ideal for travel.

Size

The official product dimensions are 2.8 x 2.8 x 1.2 inches. The convenience of the built-in AC charger comes at the cost of a larger size, making the Fusion significantly larger than many other 5000mAh power banks. But when you figure in the fact that you do not need to carry a separate AC wall charger and cable, the larger size if a fair compromise.

Safety

The PowerCore Fusion features the standard “Multi-Protect” safety system offered on most Anker products. This includes protections against overcharging, overheating and surges.
