Anker’s Astro E1 comes in one of my favorite sizes and it has now been upgraded to a 6700mAh capacity.
Performance
The Anker Astro E1 features high 2.4 amp output. This allows you to charge a tablet — such as an iPad — at maximum speed (although, it would not charge an iPad fully from 0%). Most smartphones only charge at a 1 amp speed, but if you’re phone happens to support a 2 amp charge, the Astro E1 can handle it.
Capacity
The Anker Astro E1 now features a 6700mAh capacity (up from the previous 5200mAh capacity) without an increase in size. This allows you to add about 1.5 to 2 charges to an iPhone and between 1 to 2 charges to many other phones.
Size
The Astro E1 hits the sweet spot for me striking a nice balance between size and capacity. It fits easily in my pocket and provides me with up to 2 extra charges. I’m happy to see that the Astro E1’s size has not changed with the increase in capacity.
The power bank takes about 5 hours to be recharged by a standard 1 amp USB phone charger.
Extra Features
The power bank has a “smart” USB port which allows you to charge most devices at full speed, up to 2.4 amps. It also uses a standard Micro USB input to recharge the power bank. As is typical with most power banks, a Micro USB charging cable is included, but a wall USB charger is not.
Please note that this power bank does not feature Quick Charge technology and has a maximum of 2.4amp at 5V output per port. Only certain Android phones support Quick Charge; if you have an iPhone, then the lack of Quick Charge technology would not matter to you.
Safety
The Astro E1 includes Anker’s standard built-in safety features to keep your devices safe, such as protections against over-charging, over-discharging, over-voltage, over-current and short circuit protection.
Our Verdict
The Anker Astro E1 power bank can provide 1-2 charges to many smartphones. The 2.4 amp output with smart detection allows you to charge most devices at full speed. It strikes a nice balance between size and capacity
